Thank you!

Dear Tom,
Thank you, Tom, for giving me the gift of Olive this year. Thank you for the stretch marks, the hemorrhoids and the mild incontinence (during all those trampolining parties I attend) that came along with her. I wouldn't be who I am today without breasts that rest on my tummy.
Mostly, thank you for allowing me to fall in love with you every time I see you with our girl.
Thank you for Olive, the other love of my life.

  2. Hello! My niece Heidi told me to check out your blog as my new-mom daughter is having some of the same issues as you did with the breast feeding "fun". After wiping the tears of laughter from my face, I shared the link with my awesome new-mom daughter and she replied, "That was great! I so needed that." It's so important to know that you are not alone when you're a new mom. Thank you for sharing your experiences...you have such a way with words! (I will have to read your letter to Olivia later as my eyes started to leak)

  4. Pat,
Firstly, huge congratulations on becoming a grandma! I am so glad that my experience could help - it can be so overwhelming at first and I remember feeling so ashamed that something supposedly so natural was causing me so much pain and sadness. I felt like a failure within the first few weeks of motherhood. What's worse is the pressure society puts on us new mums. Please give your daughter a big hug from me. If she ever wants to talk or rant she is welcome to email me at paulaburtonbain@hotmail.com. We have to stick together!! Much love to you and your family this holiday season.
